Home - Somerset West and Taunton Council Webcasting
Welcome to Somerset West and Taunton Webcasting Service
Somerset Council came into being on April 1 2023. The new unitary council brings together the services previously provided by the four district councils in Somerset (Mendip, Sedgemoor, Somerset West and Taunton, and South Somerset) alongside the services provided by Somerset County Council.
Webcasts for the new Somerset council can be found at https://somerset.public-i.tv/ .
From here you can access webcasts of our live council meetings or view archived council meetings. Upcoming and our most recent meetings are displayed on the right hand side of this page. To view an archive of a recent meeting simply click on the title of the meeting you wish to view. If you would rather use a text based version of the player then please use the 'text' link at the top of the player window for the meeting you are viewing.
If the webcast you require is older than those displayed in the recent list then please take a look at the webcasts page which features a complete list of our available archived council meetings. From January 2020 all new meetings will be available in the archive for a period of 12 months from the meeting date. If you still cannot find the meeting you are looking for then please make use of the search facility. The search box in the navigation bar on each page will search through the title, description and keywords associated with a meeting and display a list of relevant meetings. Should you wish to make a more specific search (e.g. title only) then you can do that through the advanced search page by entering the search terms and where you want to search on the right hand side of the page. A DVD copy of each meeting (without agenda points) is available also at a nominal charge. Contact the Governance Team on 0300 304 8000 for details.
What is a Webcast?
A webcast is basically a transmission of audio and video over the internet. Video cameras at our council meetings capture the live information and send it to a central server, which in turn sends it to anyone that would like to view the meeting. Through the use of your internet connection and media player you can view the meetings live from the comfort of your own home.
Should you miss a meeting, or would like to view a section of the meeting again, then you can view the archive of the webcast. The archives allow you to view the meeting at your leisure and, through the use of the index points, allow you to jump to a specific agenda point or speaker.
